Come discuss the 2008 Beijing Summer games with a couple of fanatics!

Tuesday, April 27, 2004

For the first time in the history of the Olympics, the IOC has taken out cancellation insurance to protect them against war, terrorism, earthquake, floods, you name it. If the Olympics are cancelled, the IOC will get $170 million in order to insure other Olympic games in the future can take place.

While I realize this is supposed to make someone feel more secure, what it says to me is that there is a serious possibility that these games will be canceled! I guess we will have to wait another 108 days to see if the games open as expected.
