Decathlon Gold Medal Hopes Dashed
Tom Pappas, an American of Greek descent, did not finish the decathlon today after he injured his foot while participating in the javelin throw. Pappas was thought to be a contender for the gold medal in the decathlon. After feeling sharp pain in his left foot after his first javelin throw, Pappas left the field to have his foot retaped but the pain only became worse and he withdrew from competition.
On a happier note, American Bryan Clay captured the silver medal for the US in the decathlon. Congrats Bryan!
